What is a Business Days Calculator?

A business days calculator counts the number of working days (Monday through Friday) between two dates, skipping weekends. Optionally, it can also skip recognized public holidays so you get a count of true working days.

This is the standard tool used in project management, legal deadlines, shipping estimates, payroll processing, and any situation where calendar days differ meaningfully from working days.

Example: Dec 15 → Jan 10 with US holidays excluded around 18 business days — counting past Christmas, New Year's Day, and both weekends automatically.

How to Use This Calculator

Select a start date and an end date, then click Calculate Business Days. The result shows the total workday count plus a breakdown of total calendar days, weekend days, and (if enabled) holidays skipped.

Choose a country from the Exclude public holidays dropdown to subtract that country's public holidays from the count. Supported countries: United States, South Korea (대한민국), United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. Use the quick-range buttons to jump to common periods like this week, this month, or the rest of the year.

The start date is included in the count; the end date is not — matching the most common business convention (e.g., "5 business days from today" starts counting from today). To verify which weekday a specific deadline falls on, use the Day of the Week Lookup; to identify the ISO week of a target deadline, see the Week Number Calculator.

  • Legal filings – Many legal deadlines are counted in court/business days

Frequently Asked Questions

How many business days are in a month?

Most months have between 20 and 23 business days. A month with 31 days and no major holidays landing on weekdays will have the most; February or any month with a Monday holiday will have fewer. Use the calculator to get an exact count for any specific month.

How do I calculate business days between two dates?

Count all days in the range, then subtract the number of Saturdays and Sundays that fall within it. For a 7-day week starting on Monday, there are always 2 weekend days. For ranges spanning multiple weeks, multiply full weeks by 5, then handle the partial week at each end. This calculator handles all of that automatically.

Does the calculator include the start and end dates?

The start date is included; the end date is not. This matches the standard business convention: "5 business days from Monday" means Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri — ending at Friday close, with the following Monday being day 6. If you need both dates included, add one to the result.

How many business days is 2 weeks?

Two calendar weeks (14 days) always contain exactly 10 business days when no public holidays are involved. With a holiday, it drops to 9 (or fewer if two holidays fall in the same two-week span).

What holidays are excluded?

Select a country to exclude its national public holidays: US (11 federal holidays), South Korea (15 holidays including Lunar New Year and Chuseok), UK (8 bank holidays), Canada (9 statutory holidays), or Australia (8 national holidays). State/provincial holidays and company-specific holidays are not included.

Why do different business day calculators give different answers?

The most common difference is whether the start date, end date, or both are counted. Some tools include both endpoints; others include neither; this calculator includes the start date only. The holiday set used also varies. Always check the convention a contract or legal deadline specifies if precision matters.
